Description of the job
A vacancy for an Engine Performance R&T engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse.
Within the Engine Performance Research & Development Sub-Domain, you will conduct and manage engine performance technical activities for future engines installation studies. You will mainly work on new engine preliminary design, performance evaluation, modelling and optimization capabilities from early development phases up to program launch. Those activities are conducted in direct cooperation with the AIRBUS Research & Technology organization, the Engine & Nacelle manufacturers and the other Airbus design office disciplines including Future Projects, Powerplant integration, aircraft performance, aerodynamics and acoustics.

Tasks & accountabilities
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
· Contributing to new propulsion system preliminary design, thermodynamic cycle evaluation and optimization methods and capability development. Taking the responsibility of defined work packages in this scope.
· Assessing new propulsion system concepts with respect to their performance potential.
· Contributing to the Powerplant system performance optimisation and to aircraft optimization studies involving propulsion performance
· Doing critical evaluation of the engine manufacturers' proposals and actively participate in the definition of the specification requirement for new engine installations
· Developping engine performance models
· Contributing to continuous improvements of engine performance modelling and engine performance evaluation methods & tools
· Contributing to environmental/emissions studies
This role will involve some travel for business once a semester worldwide and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
Required skills
You will have the following skills and experience:
· Educated to Master level (or equivalent) in Engineering aeronautics or a related discipline,
· Thermodynamic experience is mandatory,
· Engine preliminary design experience is mandatory,
· Turbomachine modelisation tools knowledge is mandatory (PROOSIS or similar (GAZTURB for example)),
· Engineering experience,
· An experience within a motorist would be a plus,
· Curious,
· Think out of the box,
· Team spirit,
· Fast learner,
· Language Skills: Advanced level of English and negotiation level of French.
