Leveraged & Acquisition Finance within the Investment Banking division
 
The environment:
HSBC is a leading global Bank (3rd Worldwide) with a presence in 84 countries. It serves more than 60 million clients across the world. GBM is the Investment Banking arm of HSBC
and has an ambitious growth strategy. Within GBM the Leveraged & Acquisition Finance (LAF) team arranges and underwrites debt to finance event-driven corporate transactions (i.e. acquisitions) and leveraged buyouts by private equity clients (LBOs) as well as corporate flow business for investment grade borrowers. This debt takes the form of senior and junior bank loans bridges working capital facilities and high-yield bonds issuance. It is a risk focused environment which supports the financing needs of our core clients. HSBC is a market leader in this type of financing across most of the Group's main markets.
In Paris the LAF team comprises 12 members (Origination Syndication Portfolio) and works closely with the other LAF teams across the world (London Hong-Kong and New York) as well as with other teams including Debt Capital Markets Equity Capital Markets Advisory (M&A Rating) and Commercial Banking. As part of the LAF team the trainee will gain exposure to some of the most high profile and complex structured financing transactions.

Your responsibilities:
Among the Leveraged & Acquisition Finance team of HSBC you will be in charge of the following missions:
- Assisting the team in analyzing credit risk and structuring financing proposals: Industry/Sector analysis
financial analysis of the borrower;
- Detailed financial modeling on Excel and financial projections;
- Analysis of the independent due diligences performed on the borrower and drafting of credit applications;
- Assessment of the funding requirements structuring the credit facilities;
- Providing assistance to work on internal/client presentations;
- Updating financial databases used to evaluate the clients versus their competitors/peers.

Your profile:
- Final year of a Tier-1 Business School Engineering School leading University
- Finance-oriented studies with a strong knowledge of financial analysis/modeling
- Previous experience in Investment Banking is highly valued
- Team worker rigorous and able to adapt quickly to a changing environment
- Basic knowledge of the main debt instruments
- Fluency in written and spoken English and French
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word Excel PowerPoint)
